District Fleece to order £20

Contact Paul Fix or Jim Berry

A number of leaders have expressed an interest in having a District Fleece, we have therefore had one made up! The Fleece is a Regatta Fleece in Black, with Scout Logo in Red with the words “Hornchurch District” underneath.

If you would like one please place your order with Paul Fix or Jim Berry by 31st. January. They will need to know what size plus full payment in cash only. If you wish to see the fleece or try one on to gauge the size Jim will have it in the Scout Shop on Mondays evenings. (The sample fleece to try on is a large!) Any question contact Paul or Jim. World Jamboree 2011

Assistant Contingent Leader GLNE

Hi all

As you may or may not know the World Scout Jamboree is in Sweden in 2011 (not quite as prestigious as Chelmsford), but a great opportunity none the less to join up with scouts from all over the world.

If you know of a Scout or Explorer who you think would like the opportunity to go, can you please direct them to the county web site to fill out an online application form www.glne-scouts.org.uk. There will be a selection day either February 20th / 21st 2010, where we will select 36 participants from across the County.

Applicants will have to have been born between 25th July 1993 and 27th July 1997. These rules are stipulated by the World Scout Bureau and cannot be changed.

Many thanks

Alan Winston

Hogwarts District Cub Camp 2009

Adrian Ribnell ADC Cubs

Peter Allen was event photographer and will no doubt soon be forwarding photos and a report on the camp.
However I must go on record in thanking all the 10 packs, their leaders and young helpers who attended with their Cubs.

These leaders who helped so much;
Mark Duffy, Steve Chalk and Roger Stannard who ran the first aid tent whilst on camp, administering the various pots of potions for hayfever and treating those dreaded gnat bites.
Bob Wallace, Roger Fall, Emma and of course the world famous Jan Luscombe. Plus the helpers, Chris, Robert and James. We had invited a two German troops for the international campfire.
Roger Fall for the Cubs own tribute.
Anita Wallace, Peter Greener, Robert Saleh and Ernie Spicknell who worked long and hard to run the kitchen and provide everyone with filling meals throughout the camp.
A special comment about Robert Saleh who took the trouble to contact the parents who had a child with an egg allergy about what he could provide instead.
To James Chapman, Robert Harding who were fantastic in completing their tasks.
Bob Wallace who ran the camp with me, and designed and ran this year's Cubs District Sports day.

A special camp with extra ordinary people in it.
Adrian Ribnell, Camp leader.
