Based in the Elm Park area of the District this unit is ideally based to offer Explorer Scouting to Scout Groups in Elm Park and South Hornchurch. An active unit who do alot of camping and other activities check out their website at http://www.centurionesu.org.uk
Dragon ESU recently launched its own, modern website. Being an active unit, it supports the Upminster area and takes a lot of its new memebers from 1st, 2nd and 3rd Upminster Scout Groups.

Based at 8th Hornchurch's HQ Gladiators have increased their numbers through some great activities like "sponsored sleep-out" at Thriftwood in self-built shelters, raising £200 for National Children's Homes, a contribution for which they were very grateful. Other events in the Autumn term included bowling, bonfire night (sausages included!), orienteering, cooking, etc."

This unit is designed to allow Explorers who wish to become Young Leaders to do the necessary training to help in other sections. They cannot help without completing this and being allocated a mentor. This unit also ensures that any scout member aged between 14 and 18 who may want to help at another section (maybe to complete D of E) can actually help at the section. This Module is the only compulsory Module and MUST be completed by ALL Young Leaders within 3 months of signing up to the Young Leaders' Scheme.
